May, 2006:
Sola/Hevi-Duty, a global supplier of power quality solutions, has announced the successful transition of its’ power supplies, surge suppression devices, transformers and power conditioning equipment to RoHS compliant models for shipment to European Union countries, providing its OEM customers with the flexibility they need to comply with the environmental standard.
“More than a year ago, we assigned a team to achieve RoHS compliance by working closely with our external suppliers,” noted Mike Johnson, Director of Marketing, Sola/Hevi-Duty. “By staying ahead of the curve, the transition to RoHS has been seamless and transparent, leading to no interruption in the business operations.”
Beginning July 1, 2006, all products put on the EU markets were required to comply with RoHS (Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances). The Directive bans the use of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, PBB and PBDE flame-retardants in most electrical and electronic equipment put on the EU markets.
